The non-sublingual ativan didn't give me memory loss. It's the white oval one that is scored down the middle and comes in 1 mg tablets. Clonazepam gave me such memory loss that I couldn't even remember what I just looked at. I had to cut down from 1 mg of clonazepam to 0.5mg to 0.125mg. It worked! No more memory loss! I'm on 2 mg of ativan a day and the 0.125mg of clonazepam.
I hear from Pat that sublingual ativan causes severe blanking out. Like if you give it to someone before an operation (particularly the elderly) they won't remember the operation.

I take Xanax and have taken it for years. Last time I was in the hospital all the docs there said Xanax no good too short acting and put me on Clonazepam. I had severe memory loss, which I have never had on Xanax, and when I got out I went to my pdoc and said put me back on Xanax. Easy problem to solve though.
I've never taken Xanax. I've heard of it though. I heard that once you go on clonazepam and/or ativan that most other anti-anxieties don't work anymore. I think it depends how long you've been dependent on the benzos. I've been for a few years now.

i do have memory loss and am on .5 mg ativan 3 times a day. but i don't know if it's caused by the ativan or the illness itself but i need the ativan to prevent my perplexity attacks.
i'm glad to hear that ur memory is better on the non-sublingual. i also hope my perplexity will improve and i can try not to be on ativan to see if my memory will improve. my memory is really bad.
