Olanzapine: so i put weight on, say 2-3 stone & it doesnt look likely to come off any time soon. But i personally think it is an excerlent medication, because of it i can think clearly and am confident that if life were to take a sudden turn for the worst i would still have a solid grip. Been on zyprexa for about 3 years in that time ive only tryed abifily as an alternative, abifily had side effects like light headedness and generaly feeling yuck so i went back onto the olanzapine. What i want to say about it is, when i take my meds at night (10mg) its over till i have to take it again the next night, i seem to suffer no side effects and it just goes to work not even bothering me in the slightest. Guess that could make it easy for me to forget i have to take it, maybe not. Would like to hear your views on zyprexa?

| I have been on zyprexa zydis (form that melts in your mouth) and seems to help quite abit with no side effects other then weight gain. But I have also been gaining weight for the past 2 years ever since I started Clozaril so its really hard to say which is doing more than the other, I do find that since the zyprexa my stomach constantly feels empty. |

Well i dont get that but i do get the feeling off needing big meals and junk food, also stuff that ive never tryied before -- guess its like a craving type thing. But saying that i dont give in to it all the time, i fact i think i do well to keep the weight stedy as it is atm.

| i would really like some info on olazapine.i have been prescribed it but i have a phobia i am scared of nausea and vomiting so i would really like to know if either are a side effect with olazapine that is all that stops me taking it i am really miserable and i think if i could take it my life would improve |

no sickness with zyprexa with me, i got that with abifily. dont be so worryied if it doesnt work for u tell them and change it to somthing else,

Hi all, I just asked Dr.Long what's the percentage of people who are on olanzapine and didn't gain any weight. he said that he needs to check his records, but he believe somewhere around 30% don't gain weight. i thought about this for a while and realized that i think that it's too high a percentage to be right. i've heard so many stories of people on olanzapine and they all said that they gained weight. some, maybe only 10 lbs, but others like me, 70 lbs. i'm a very petite woman also. i weighed 95 lbs until i took olanzapine! although i don't like to think of myself as vain, it's still very bothersome to me back then and even now, after marriage. it also made me very delusional as i thought that the whole world was created for me and that everyone had ESP, except me. i thought that people could control my thoughts and actions. i also used to never believe in space and jesus and gravity. i thought that this whole world was false and was created, as i said before, just for me. it was very disturbing as i didn't know if i should be thankful or pissed off. finally, back to zyprexa, besides the horrible weight gain, the delusions were worse. also, diabetes runs in my family. with the 70 lb weight gain, i was a prime candidate. my granny died a couple of years ago from diabetes and my dad has borderline diabetes. however, there are some people who take zyprexa and it works really well for them. | I vomited for the first three months of taking Zyprexa. I have nothing god to say about the drug, less than it caused my paranoia and delusions to go away, other that it has ruined the rest of my life. |

Did your delusions go away am I reading this post correctly?
If so can you try a different med. At least it shoes your delusions can be treated.

| yes, the delusions are mostly gone, and have been since I began taking it in '96. however, I have found zyprexa exceedingly difficult to go off of. If I miss 2 days I have anxiety attacks that put me on the floor doing deep breathing exercises just relax and not tear off peoples heads-my temper is unreal off the med. |
